  2. This is what Gena's Grandson, Loren wrote last Thursday: 'My Grandma, Gibby/Genevieve/Gena Bouquet, passed away last night after 86 epic years on planet earth. She followed the winds west from a dusty farm in Oklahoma to LA, where she riveted plane wings to defeat Nazis. She met Steven Downer, had 3 wonderful kids and raised them in the world-famous Self Reallization Fellowship, founded by 'Autobiography of a Yogi' author Paramahansa Yogananda. She taught elementary school and painted amazing paintings under the tutelage of masters. She divorced granddad in '69, took off to India to hang out with Gurus and perform miracles. You know, no big deal. She painted portraits at Knotts' Berry Farm and Disneyland. She spent the rest of her days climbing Peruvian mountaintops, becoming a certified sha(wo)man, swimming with dolphins, meditating, doing yoga and singing in choirs. And she never stopped being an awesome artist even when her hands became shaky after 8 decades. Oh yeah, and she was a 40-year survivor of the dreaded C-word. She was a fierce warrior-spirit. Most importantly, though, she was (IS) an amazing, sweet, caring, compassionate and understanding Grandma and I could never have asked for a better one!-Loren Downer

  3. No doubt Gena was quite a being! Her ever-present positive, upbeat stance, loving presence, and fantastic attitude of gratitude made quite an impact on me- and others too! I only recently got somewhat close to her and then learned what a talented and colorful woman she was, and of the extraordinary, adventurous life path she had followed. I feel honored and privileged to have crossed paths with Gena, and I know that she is dancing (and clowning around) with the angels, spreading her love and bright light! Bless you, Gena, sweet one.
